Rob passed away at his home in Papakua in March 2008. He had been an active Post Classic compeditor on his mint Z-1 1973 Kawasaki. He always had a solid presence on the track and was well known to most of the Auckland racers.

The thing that stands out about Rob was that he lived for his passions. He made the most of his time and always had time for his mates. A great concept for us all to consider. Rob made his last ride in his beloved white Mercury station wagon driven by his good mate Brent Hyde. It was lead to the service by two mint Kawasaki Zed's and followed by a couple of dozen riders and entourage.

The service was simple and moving, attended by about 300 with a good delegation from NZPCRA and other bike riders in general. It made you stop and think. These really are the good old days, make the most of every one of them, especially race days and days spent with good mates.

As Rob always said:

Go hard! Have fun.
